Mission
TheAIMeters is an independent project designed to make the growth of artificial intelligence easier to understand. The site turns abstract signals such as compute, electricity, water, carbon emissions, model counts and public AI activity into readable live indicators.
Why this project exists
Artificial intelligence is expanding quickly, but many of its effects remain difficult to quantify. Public discussions often rely on isolated figures, outdated estimates or opaque claims. TheAIMeters aims to provide a clearer, more accessible view of AI activity and impact.
How the indicators are built
The indicators combine public sources, platform snapshots, research-based assumptions and scheduled updates. Some counters reflect direct snapshots from public sources, while others are modeled estimates designed to provide a useful order of magnitude. Full details are available in the Methodology.
Independence and limitations
TheAIMeters is not an official reporting source for any AI provider, cloud operator or public institution. Values should be interpreted as indicative estimates or public snapshots, not audited measurements. Methodology and wording are updated as better public data becomes available.
